Burnout Therapy for Women in Redding and Across California

You have been the strong one for a long time. You keep showing up for work, family, church, and everyone who needs you. Now you are running on empty, and a weekend off doesn’t touch it.

I help women in their 30s and 40s heal from burnout that runs deeper than a busy season. We meet in person in Redding, or by secure video from anywhere in California.

Does this sound like you?

  • You are tired in a way that sleep doesn’t fix.
  • You say yes before you have even checked if you can.
  • You feel guilty resting, so you rarely do.
  • You snap at people you love, then feel awful about it.
  • You feel numb, foggy, or far away from your own life.
  • You are caring for a parent, a child, or a spouse, and no one is caring for you.
  • You have read the self-care lists. They made you feel like you were failing at that too.

If some of this is you, you are not lazy and you are not weak. Your body is telling you something true.

Why rest alone hasn’t fixed it

Most advice about burnout is about doing less. Take a bath. Set a boundary. Say no. That advice isn’t wrong, but if it were enough, you would feel better by now.

For many women, burnout grows out of old patterns that once kept them safe. Maybe you learned early that being helpful kept the peace. Maybe being needed felt like the only way to be loved. Maybe you grew up in a home where someone else’s moods ran the house, so you learned to manage everyone.

Those patterns made sense back then. They helped you survive. But they also taught your body that it is never safe to stop. That is why you can’t just “stop doing so much.” Something underneath is still working very hard to protect you.

Instead of “what’s wrong with me,” ask “what happened to me.”

How I help

I don’t believe lasting change comes from forcing new habits. It comes from healing what is driving the old ones. We work in three stages, at a pace your body can handle.

  1. Steady your body firstBefore we go anywhere deep, you learn simple tools to calm your nervous system. Your nervous system is your body’s alarm system. When it has been on high alert for years, everything feels harder.
  2. Get to know your partsI use Internal Family Systems, often called IFS. It is a way of working with the different parts of ourselves. You may have a part that keeps pushing, a part that feels guilty, and a part that just wants to hide. We meet each one with curiosity instead of criticism.
  3. Heal what is underneathWhen you are ready, we work on the old hurts that taught you to over-give. I often use Brainspotting, a gentle, body-based approach that helps your brain process hard memories without needing to find the perfect words.

You are never pushed to share more than you are ready to. We can always slow down.

Burnout, caregiving, and midlife

Burnout often hits hardest in midlife. You may be raising kids and caring for aging parents at the same time. Your body is changing. Old family roles you never chose may be pulling at you again. If that is where you are, you may also find my page on therapy for midlife women helpful.

Sometimes burnout also follows years in a controlling or draining relationship, where you learned to walk on eggshells. I work with that too. You can read more about therapy after controlling and narcissistic relationships.

Faith is welcome, never required

I am a Christian. Many of the women I work with are too, and some have been told that being tired means they aren’t trusting God enough. That kind of message can add shame to exhaustion. If you want your faith in the room, it is welcome. If you don’t, we will leave it out completely. Either way, you will be treated with respect.

Questions people ask

Is burnout a real diagnosis?

Burnout is not a formal mental health diagnosis, but it is very real. It often shows up alongside anxiety, depression, or trauma. You don’t need a label to deserve support.

Do I have to quit my job or step back from my family to get better?

No. Therapy is not about blowing up your life. It is about understanding why you carry so much and finding a way to carry less, at a pace that works for your real life.

I’m too tired to add one more thing. Is therapy going to feel like work?

That is a very common worry. Sessions are meant to be a place to set things down, not pick more up. We start by helping your body feel steadier, not by handing you homework.

Can I do burnout therapy online?

Yes. I see clients by secure video anywhere in California. Many busy women find video sessions easier to fit into their week.

Do I need to be a Christian to work with you?

No. Faith is welcome if it matters to you, and it is never required. You are welcome here either way.

You don’t have to keep running on empty

A free 15-minute consult is a simple first step. Tell me a little about what you are carrying, and I will tell you how I work and whether I have room. There is no pressure to book.

This is education, not therapy. It’s not medical advice and doesn’t create a therapist-client relationship.
